Four Conclusions About Couture Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2019

I’m obviously obsessed with fashion weeks, and I love couture. I’ve looked through every show and pulled out the things I think are the most DIY-able. In that process I’ve come to some conclusions…

Black and White are, and always will be, absolute classics.

There’s always black looks and white looks but I feel like there was a lot more this season. Also, there were quite a few all black or all white collections. I think it might be a reaction to how everything in the world is so bananas right now that the people want simplicity. There’s something so classic and clean in black and white. However….

Embellishments are huge.

I love a good embellishment. The easiest DIY’s are always gluing or sewing something to a garment or accessory that already exists. Also, embellishment is fun and right now we need some fun.

Wearable clothes are having a moment.

While I love clothes that are art pieces and statement making, I tend to veer more towards wearable clothes. I found a lot of couture this year has been incredibly feminine, floaty, and just plain wearable.

I know a lot of people think it’s boring and whatnot, but I kind of love it.

I need to go somewhere fancy.

Seriously. It’s hard looking at gowns all the time when you know you don’t really have an occasion to wear them.

Actually, where can you wear a gown these days?

Now there’s a question worth exploring…
